MHRA: Check Xenidate packs for missing tablets

A manufacturing issue means that a “small number” of packs of the stimulant could contain an extra or missing tablet, says the MHRA

The MHRA has urged pharmacists to check packs of Xenidate for missing or extra tablets.

A problem with the tablet-counting mechanism used by manufacturer Mylan UK meant that a “small number” of packs of Xenidate XL (methylphenidate hydrochloride) 36mg tablets could have either 29 or 31 tablets, rather than 30, the MHRA said yesterday (June 29).

Pharmacists should check the contents of packs from batch B34806B before dispensing the stimulant, the watchdog said. No other batches were believed to be affected, it stressed.

If pharmacists found a pack with the wrong number of tablets, they should contact Mylan UK on 01707 853000 and select option one, the MHRA said. They could also email [email protected], it added.

The affected batch is:
