MTS plans to boost adherence
Medicines packaging company MTS Medication Technologies has launched a campaign to boost medicines adherence.
The ‘Adherence: let's take care of it' campaign, which launched last month, was initiated to raise awareness of non-adherence and possible solutions to the problem, said MTS.
The campaign includes a website, social media activity, educational material for healthcare professionals and trade press advertising. It also sees the pilot of MTS's ‘Clever Card' technology, which sends an electronic message to the pharmacist or carer when a patient has opened a blister in the medication pack.
The technology will be rolled out to pharmacies next year if the pilot scheme, conducted across two healthcare providers over the next six months, is successful.
Improving adherence required a collaborative approach between healthcare providers to address patient behaviour and attitudes, said MTS. "There are... around 200,000 patients in the UK requiring further support to take their medication correctly," said MTS marketing director James Murray.
