Nearly 400 pharmacies have access to SCR

All areas of England will have begun training to access the summary care record (SCR) by May, according to PSNC

Nearly 400 pharmacies have access to the summary care record (SCR) as part of a nationwide rollout.

Day Lewis and Rowlands branches are among the more than 380 pharmacies that can now access the record after completing mandatory face-to-face training sessions, the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) revealed today (February 15).

Pharmacies across the south of England and the Midlands will begin the training sessions this month, PSNC said. One person from each pharmacy must attend before staff can access the record.

Pharmacies in the north of England will start training in March, while those in London will have to wait until April, the negotiator said.

Training sessions are normally organised by NHS England and local pharmaceutical committees (LPCs), but Boots, Lloydspharmacy and Superdrug – alongside supermarkets Morrisons and Tesco – will train their staff in-house, PSNC said.

Smaller pharmacy chains such as Kamsons and Weldricks will also organise their own training sessions, PSNC added.
