October deadline for registration looms
The October 31 deadline for renewing registration is fast approaching, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has warned.
Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians have until the end of October to renew their registration in order to continue practicing. The GPhC said "75 per cent of the register" and "the owners of more than 13,000 pharmacies" will have to pay £240 for pharmacists and £108 for pharmacy technicians, following a 10 per cent reduction in fees by the council. Registered pharmacists' renewal cost will remain at £221.
Pharmacies that do not renew their registration before the deadline will be charged triple the standard fee and unable to open to trade. Pharmacy professionals will be removed from the register the day after the expiry date of their registration and find themselves unable to practise.
The GPhC will be contacting those who have yet to renew their registration to remind them of the upcoming deadline.
