Omnicell helps hospitals prepare for barcode system
Medication management company Omnicell has launched a campaign to help hospitals get ready for the government’s stock inventory standards.
Ready For GS1?, which launched last month, will help hospitals meet the minimum GS1 barcoding standards which are due to come into force in 2019-20 by “debunking myths” and offering “practical solutions”, Omincell said.
“Hospitals are wasting millions of pounds on supplies they don’t need simply because they don’t know what is being used and by whom,” it said.
Omnicell will work “with a number” of hospitals to meet the standards – including the University Hospital of North Tees – so it can share best practice with other sites later in the year, it said.
The campaign will also make social media announcements with the hashtag #readyforGS1, distribute educational materials and submit features in trade magazines, Omnicell added.
