The Safeguard Against Frontline Errors (SAFE) campaign – which launched at the Clinical Pharmacy Congress on May 12 – “throws the spotlight on the importance of providing a safety net for the administration of drugs”, Omnicell said.
Effective inventory management, minimising stock-outs and reducing missed doses are just some of the many benefits of automated dispensing systems, it said.
The SAFE campaign will involve the distribution of educational materials for healthcare professionals, advertising features in the trade press and a social media campaign.
Managing director Paul O’Hanlon said the company is concerned at the “staggering level of medication errors across the NHS”.
“We hope our new SAFE campaign goes some way in throwing the spotlight on the issue and helps to drive real change,” Mr O’Hanlon said.
