Opioid price cuts ‘improve value’

Actavis has reduced the price of its opioid analgesics Reltebon and Lynlor.

The generics manufacturer had cut the price of the two drugs to 40 per cent below that of the original brands on July 1, it said.

Prices across the Reltebon range – packs of 56 10mg, 15mg, 20mg, 30mg, 40mg, 60mg or 80mg tablets, as well as packs of 28 5mg tablets – were reduced to offer “improved value to both our customers and the NHS”, Actavis said.

The price of 60mg Reltebon prolonged release tablets had been reduced from £105 to £91.49, 30mg from £52.50 to £45.74 and 15mg tablets from £26.25 to £22.87, it said.

Actavis also cut the prices of packs of 56 Lynlor immediate release capsules in 5mg, 10mg and 20mg doses to £6.86, £13.72 and £27.43 respectively, it said.

Both products contain oxycodone hydrochloride and are indicated for severe pain that can only be managed with opioid analgesics.
