The “central focus” of the campaign will be a TV advert, running from September 17 to October 29, featuring testimonials from former smokers who have successfully stopped with the help of NiQuitin products, Perrigo said.

The campaign – which will feature outdoor and digital advertisements – is designed to encourage pharmacists to “set their pharmacy up for success this Stoptober”, the manufacturer said.

‘Quit kits’, featuring a diary, information on NHS support tools and other materials to help smokers quit, will be available in pharmacies over October, it added.

Laure de Brauer, head of marketing for ‘get well’ brands at Perrigo, said: “Pharmacy plays a vital role during Stoptober, as an astounding 97% of people will fail to quit when relying on willpower alone.”

Citing data from UK market research company Populus, Ms de Brauer added: “22% of smokers looking to quit or cut back want a product which has been recommended by a healthcare professional.”
