London-based PharmaDoctor claims to be the “leading provider of clinically supported PGDs in the UK”, having helped pharmacies offer services for malaria, meningitis and erectile dysfunction.

Star, meanwhile, offers a “unique approach to data, insights, analytics and unrivalled industry knowledge and experience”.

The “strategic partnership” of the two companies – announced on Monday (September 24) – will enable them “to leverage each other’s experience and strengths to provide joined-up solutions”.

Together they aim to offer pharmacy services “across multiple therapeutic areas” that will generate “an attractive return on investment”.

PharmaDoctor CEO Graham Thoms said: “Increasingly, the most successful pharmacies are diversifying their business from simply being a dispenser of medicine to offering an extensive set of clinical services.”

The partnership will “offer patients a large choice of convenient and accessible clinical services without the need to wait for a doctor’s appointment”, he added.

Star head of business development Ryan Wooller said his business “recognises the huge opportunity to collaborate and invest in pharmacy in a more meaningful way to produce measurable patient outcomes”.
