French manufacturer Pierre Fabre has taken over the distribution of its Eludril mouthwash and Elgydium toothpaste and toothbrush ranges in the UK.

Eludril mouthwash contained antibacterial agent chlorhexidine to help treat and prevent the formation of dental plaque and gingivitis, the manufacturer said when it announced the distribution handover this month. Its formula also contained chlorobutanol for a “local anaesthetic effect” and was diluted for a “more pleasant taste”, it said.

Its Elgydium products were the only daily toothpaste range in the UK to contain chlorhexidine for the prevention of plaque and tartar, Pierre Fabre claimed. The range included anti-plaque, whitening and sensitive variants, it added.

Prices range from £3.50 for 75ml Elgydium Anti-Plaque Toothpaste, to £9 for 500ml Eludril Mouthwash.
