The Princes Trust Foundation For Integrated Health closes following fraud investigation
Prince Charles’ alternative medicine charity, The Princes Trust Foundation For Integrated Health, has closed following a fraud investigation. The trustees of The Princes Trust Foundation For Integrated health decided to close the charity ahead of schedule, following the arrests of two people on suspicion of fraud.A 49-year old man understood to be a former senior official at the Foundation, was arrested in north London, alongside a 54-year-old woman, the Metropolitan Police Confirmed.Trustees had reported a £300,000 black hole in The Princes Trust Foundation For Integrated Health's accounts and an investigation was launched by the Metropolitan Police The Foundation, which was set up to promote the use of alternative medicines to the NHS, was due to close in a few months following the announcement by the Secretary of State for Health to introduce regulation for herbalists to be called the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council. At the request of the Department of Health, The Princes Trust Foundation For Integrated Health ran a programme from 2000 which resulted in the creation, in 2008, of an independent self-regulatory body for complementary therapy. The charity is supported by profits from the Prince of Wales’ Dutchy Originals company. Police would not name the suspects and a spokesperson from Scotland Yard said bail was due to run out in early June for the suspects.
