The patch – which launched last week (October 31) – contains ibuprofen which is dissolved in the adhesive of the patch and maintained in fluid form so it can be diffused to the site of pain to soothe symptoms for 24 hours, RB said.

The patches can be used for five consecutive days, with a new patch applied each day, it said.

“It’s flexible, ultra-thin, and has excellent adhesion, making it an easy-to-wear product for joint and muscular body pain,” the manufacturer said.

RB also launched its Know More Pain campaign to encourage patients to better understand pain, it added, which kicked off with a demonstration of the benefits of pain management in King’s Cross station in London.

Nurofen UK category marketing manager Luca Tamagni said: “We set out on this journey to develop a treatment option that would enable our consumers to lead more active, fulfilling lives and help them manage their joint and muscle pain.”

The patches retail at £7.99 for a pack of two, or £12.99 for a pack of four.
