Pharmacists, technicians and contractors have less than two weeks to renew their registration, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has warned.

All pharmacists and technicians whose registration expires at the end of this year will need to renew by October 31 or face paying twice the renewal fee to be restored to the register, the GPhC said last week (October 17).

More than 13,000 pharmacy owners will need to renew their premises registration by the same date, or be forced to pay three times the £221 renewal fee, the regulator warned.

	This year will mark the first time pharmacy owners and superintendents will need to declare they have read the standards for registered pharmacies and pledge to meet them when renewing their registration.

The GPhC urged anyone who did not wish to renew their registration to apply for voluntary removal.

The annual renewal fees are £240 for pharmacists, £108 for technicians and £221 for registered pharmacies.

The GPhC will shortly close its survey on pharmacists' and technicians' working lives, and urged anyone who has been invited to respond to do so. The survey will help shape future regulation, and the GPhC plans to publish anonymised findings at the end of this year.
