Revealed: Location of eighth Lloydspharmacy scheduled for closure
Celesio UK has confirmed the eighth location of a Lloydspharmacy branch it is closing.
The branch on High Street, Slough will close on January 31, Lloydspharmacy told C+D today (November 30).
This is the eighth branch that Lloydspharmacy has confirmed will close, along with the locations of seven more it is planning to sell.
The total of 15 pharmacies are all part of the 190 “commercially unviable” Lloydspharmacy branches in England where parent company Celesio UK will cease trading. The multiple would not confirm the location of the remaining 175 branches.
The manager of the High Street branch was unable to comment when C+D contacted the pharmacy.
“There are a lot of other pharmacies”
Nicola Strudley, the locality manager of local charity Healthwatch Slough, told C+D she did not think the closure will have “much of an impact on the general public”, as there are “quite a lot of other pharmacies within a half-mile radius”.
“It would be different if it was in a remote town and there were no alternatives. We don't envisage there will be much backlash.”
However, she acknowledged that “often pharmacists will know patients better than GPs, because they see them on a more regular basis”.
Where are the affected pharmacies located?
You can use C+D's map to view the location of each of the 15 pharmacies identified so far. Branches confirmed for closure are marked in purple, while those Lloydspharmacy is still hoping to sell are marked in blue.
This map is live, and will be updated as C+D confirms the locations of further affected Lloydspharmacy branches.
