Revealed: The average salary of pharmacists at Boots, Lloyds and Well

The average salary of “second or non-manager” pharmacists at Lloydspharmacy is the highest of the UK's three largest multiples at £37,917, C+D's Salary Survey 2018 has suggested.

The survey, which included data submitted by 196 “second or non-manager” pharmacists at the UK’s largest three multiples – Boots, Lloydspharmacy and Well – ran throughout October.

The average salary of the 48 non-manager Lloydspharmacy pharmacists who responded to the survey was £37,917.

They were followed by the 129 Boots non-manager pharmacists, who received an average of £36,744, just ahead of the 19 Well non-manager pharmacists with an average salary of £36,710.

The average salaries of the non-manager pharmacists at the UK’s largest three multiples are all above the average earned across all pharmacy companies, which was £35,995 in 2018, according to the C+D Salary Survey.

The survey showed that the 48 Lloydspharmacy managers who responded received an average of £45,937.

The overall average annual salary for all 469 pharmacy branch managers who responded to the survey – including those outside of the largest multiples – was £46,167, up £798 from £45,369 in 2017.

The C+D Salary Survey 2018 – the largest survey of community pharmacy, and the biggest in the survey's 11-year history – was completed by a total of 1,916 pharmacists and pharmacy staff.

C+D will be publishing further findings about pay and working conditions in community pharmacy throughout December, available here.
