Sigma to supply lateral flow device kits for Pharmacy Collect service
Pharmacies will now be able to order lateral flow device test kits for the Pharmacy Collect service from Sigma Pharmaceuticals, as well as Alliance Healthcare.
The Pharmacy Collect service – which launched on March 29 – allows asymptomatic patients to collect COVID-19 lateral flow device testing kits free of charge from their local pharmacy.
Up until today (May 13), Alliance Healthcare had been the sole supplier of test kits to pharmacies in England – except for Rowlands pharmacies, which can access the test kits from Phoenix Healthcare Distribution.
Sigma Pharmaceuticals has now agreed to provide lateral flow device test kits, and are expected to be able to start deliveries from today.
Pharmacies can order the test kits from Sigma using the following details:
Sigma Pharmaceuticals – Product name DHSC Innova COV19 Rapidtest(7) (DHSC COVID-19 test kits) PIP: 8943037
Last month, C+D revealed that half of the UK's largest wholesalers had expressed an interest in supplying lateral flow devices for Pharmacy Collect.
As of April 19, more than nine in 10 pharmacies in England had signed up to the service.
