Small pharmacy owner: 'I'm losing hair over funding decision'
Hassan Khan, owner of Cullimore Chemist in Edgware, London, told C+D about the stressful wait for a decision on whether he will continue to receive top-up funding after March 31
A London contractor has told C+D local housing estates and the elderly will suffer if his pharmacy closes due to the end of NHS England's funding for small pharmacies.
Hassan Khan, owner of Cullimore Chemist in Edgware, London, said his pharmacy could close to the detriment of patients once the the national top-up funding scheme - designed to support small businesses at least 1km from another pharmacy - comes to an end on March 31.
NHS England area teams can choose to extend the scheme beyond that date but Mr Khan said he remained in the dark over his fate.
Cullimore Chemist is open seven days a week, and Mr Khan told C+D he had not had a day off this year. But his stress was nothing compared to what patients would face if the pharmacy closed, he added.
Do you know of any pharmacies at risk of closure because of the end of the funding scheme?
