Police have linked a stolen Mercedes van with a controlled drugs raid on a Derbyshire Boots.

Thieves smashed the door of Boots at the Sett Valley Medical Centre on Hyde Bank Road, New Mill, and left with a quantity of diazepam tablets on Tuesday night (August 25), Derbyshire Police said yesterday (August 27).

On their way to the scene, officers saw a white Mercedes Sprinter van driving along Hyde Bank Road, Derbyshire Constabulary said. Police believe the vehicle – which was stolen from Cheshire and has a registration plate ending in YET – is linked to the burglary, it said.

Boots UK told C+D that no colleagues, patients or customers had been present at the time of the incident, and the pharmacy is now “back open for business".

Derbyshire Police urged anyone with information relating to the incident to call PC Gareth Podmore on  101, quoting crime reference number 36484/15, or to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
