Manufacturer Teva UK has launched irbesartan tablets as a generic alternative to Aprovel.

The tablets, which come in 75mg, 150mg and 300mg doses, are indicated in the treatment of essential hypertension and renal disease in patients suffering from hypertension and type 2 diabetes.

Commercial director Kim Innes said Teva had launched 22 products this year, including 11 day-one patent expiries. Initial Teva retail prices for irbesartan start at £2.42 for a 28-tablet pack of the 75mg dose.
