In a deal expected to be finalised this month, Thornton & Ross will take over: emollient paediatric brand Oilatum; antiseptic brand Savlon; topical itch relief cream Eurax; coal tar-based dandruff shampoo Polytar; and paediatric cough liquid range Tixylix.

The manufacturer said it plans to increase investment in these brands once the deal is complete.

Thornton & Ross head and executive vice-president Roger Scarlett-Smith said: “These acquisitions demonstrate our determination to work with and support the pharmacy sector.”
