Treatment tackles symptoms of radiation dermatitis
Xclair, a non-steroidal topical treatment designed to treat and relieve the symptoms of radiation dermatitis, is now available to community pharmacies, manufacturer Sinclair IS Pharma has said.
Xclair is registered as a medical device and contains: sodium hyaluronate, to moisturise and support collagen structure; temlesteine and vitis vinifera to inhibit skin-damaging enzymes released in response to injury; and shea butter to soften and protect skin.
The product is supported by peer-reviewed trials and can be used from the start of radiotherapy and after therapy has ceased to maintain skin condition.
A 50ml tube of Xclair has an NHS price of £17 and a shelf life of three years.
