This unique C+D Award – created especially for 2018 – is a chance to celebrate the individual stories of pharmacists and pharmacy staff going ‘above and beyond’ for their patients, their team and the sector.

C+D editor James Waldron explained that “unlike other C+D Awards, this isn’t about assessing an individual’s career or an entire project”.

“So often, the incredible stories of pharmacy team members going ‘above and beyond’ don’t get the recognition we feel they deserve,” he added. “That’s why we created this unique award – and wanted to give readers the chance to vote for their favourite.”

Readers registered on the C+D website have until Friday, June 22 to vote for one of the 10 stories (listed below), with the winner announced at the C+D Awards ceremony in London on July 4.

• The pharmacy manager who brought shopping and get-well gifts for two elderly patients

• The healthy living champion who taught a vulnerable patient mindfulness

• The pharmacy assistant who spent a Saturday with an elderly patient in hospital

• The pharmacist who carried a patient having a heart attack to an ambulance

• The pharmacy team who worked together to help a suicidal patient

• The pharmacist who took to the airwaves to promote the sector

• The ACT who single-handedly organised an awards ceremony for local pharmacy champions

• The newly-qualified pharmacist who gave a convulsing patient emergency assistance

• The dispenser who braved the “beast from the east” to deliver medicines to patients

• The pharmacist who gave anticoagulation treatment to a bedbound patient
