Well operations director Nigel Swift to leave for new role at Phoenix

Well Pharmacy’s operations director Nigel Swift will leave the multiple next week to join the Phoenix Group as assistant CEO UK.

Mr Swift joined Well Pharmacy in May 2020, after 20 years with McKesson UK in various sales, marketing and operational roles.

He leaves the multiple on June 11 for his new role at the Phoenix Group – owners of Rowlands, Numark and Phoenix Healthcare Distribution.

Commenting on his departure, Well CEO Seb Hobbs said: “Nigel leaves with my thanks and our best wishes for his next role. It is important for the pharmacy sector to have strong leadership as we seek fair funding for the amazing work community pharmacy delivers for the NHS and our patients.”

Mr Swift will be replaced by Louis Purchase, a pharmacist who has been with Well Pharmacy for five years – first as a regional manager for South West England and most recently head of central operations.

Prior to Well, Mr Purchase spent time in various roles at Boots, as a multi-site pharmacy manager for Dudley Taylor and as a pharmacy consultant for the John Preddy Group. He is also currently a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council standards-setting panel.

Commenting on his new role, Mr Purchase said: “I’m excited to step up into the role at such an important and exciting time at Well.”

“As a pharmacist, I know first-hand how our community pharmacy teams help alleviate pressure on the NHS and at Well we’re working to harness technology-led solutions to give our pharmacists and pharmacy teams more time to provide care for their local communities.”

Mr Hobbs said Mr Purchase’s “broad experience across the sector, understanding of Well and leadership capabilities make him the ideal person to lead and inspire our pharmacy teams”.

What do you make of the moves at Well Pharmacy?
