Well already offers free blood pressure checks and "tailored advice" across its 780 branches, the multiple said. 

Pharmacy staff are hoping to go one better on Saturday (April 22) to mark 'Know your Blood Pressure' day, by inviting local residents to help them break the record for the number of checks made in-store in one day.

This is one of many local events the pharmacy chain is holding throughout 2017, as part of its partnership with charity the Stroke Association.

Well CEO John Nuttall said this is the first time the pharmacy chain has aligned itself with a charity partner, and "community pharmacy is perfectly placed to support the Stroke Association".

"We are more than just a pharmacy, we are a responsible business and we want to give something back to society," Mr Nuttall told C+D in an exclusive interview last month.
