A public health campaign kicked off in Wales on September 3, with 714 community pharmacies offering patients both stroke and diabetes tests.
The campaign, run by community pharmacy contractors and the Welsh government, aims to find the 10 per cent of people throughout the country who have an increased risk of developing diabetes or having a stroke.
Community Pharmacy Wales chief executive Russell Goodway said: "Community pharmacies are ideally placed to take public health messages to the 50,000 people a day who visit their local pharmacy whether they are well or ill."
Meanwhile Diabetes UK Cymru director Dai Williams said: "If this campaign can find even a fraction of people getting type 2 diabetes, it will be worthwhile."
