Raise awareness of community pharmacy teams not being among the healthcare professionals receiving a £60,000 COVID-19 death in service payout by sending a letter to your MP
C+D has written a letter for pharmacy professionals to send to their local MP requesting they raise in parliament how pharmacy teams have not been recognised among essential frontline healthcare workers tackling the impact of COVID-19.
The new scheme, which guarantees a £60,000 life assurance payout to the families of “eligible” frontline health and care staff in England who die from the virus, does not automatically cover pharmacy teams.
The scheme will only extend to pharmacists “in exceptional circumstances”, the Department of Health and Social Care told C+D on April 28.
The letter highlights the crucial work that pharmacy teams have been doing during the pandemic and the ramifications of failing to recognise them.
