Pharmacy remains open despite water and power outage
A Cumbria pharmacy has overcome a water shortage and power cut to keep patients supplied during the cold snap.
Rowlands pharmacy in Millom had to resort to bottled water after the pharmacy's water pipes froze on Monday. The pharmacy then suffered an electrical outage, leaving the store without heating for several days.
The week had been "interesting" said pharmacist Rachel Street, with staff huddling around a portable heater to keep warm.
She said: "We've been serving patients with hats and gloves on. You have to keep going."
Ms Street praised her staff's dedication, describing the store's delivery driver as "valiant" after she continued to deliver medicines despite the icy road conditions.
