VIDEO: PDA chair Mark Koziol on making pharmacy supervision fit for purpose
Following a panel discussion on pharmacy supervision at the Pharmacy Show in Birmingham last month, the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) chairman Mark Koziol shared the organisation’s views on how the controversial issue could be solved.
In the video, Mr Koziol details how and when the topic of remote supervision was introduced, and how the conversation has progressed since then.
He talked about the PDA’s vision for a future in which more pharmacists work at the same premises and share out clinical responsibilities. This would allow a pharmacist to always be available to patients as they walk through the pharmacy’s doors, Mr Koziol argued.

Locum advocate: More pharmacists needed in the pharmacy
Tohidul Islam, locum pharmacist and CEO of The Pharmacist Cooperative, also shared his views on supervision with C+D at the Pharmacy Show.
Like Mr Koziol, he feels that pharmacies need to start offering more clinical services and that more pharmacists are needed in the pharmacy.

Join C+D's next Big Debate tomorrow, November 16 at 7-8pm, to discuss how pharmacy supervision can be modernised without compromising patient safety.
