GSK encourages pharmacists to help patients manage their joint pain during Self Care Week

Pharmacists can recommend OTC treatments and guidance on managing pain relief to help patients take a proactive approach in looking after their health this Self Care Week, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has said.

Manufacturer GSK is using this year’s Self Care Week – which runs from November 15-21 – to encourage pharmacists to help patients manage their own health and take pressure off GPs where possible.

Pharmacists can recommend over-the-counter (OTC) products, such as Voltarol Max Strength Pain Relief 2.32% gel, which provides effective joint pain relief for up to 12 hours, or general guidance and advice accessed from GSK’s Health Partner portal, the manufacturer said.

Kavita Datar, senior expert marketing manager at GSK, said: “Pharmacists can play an active role in relieving the strain on the NHS, offering the right advice and range of products to provide consumers with everything they need to manage their joint pain effectively.”

Voltarol 12 Hour Joint Pain Relief 2.32% gel in 100g retails at £15.58.
