Join C+D’s Big Debate on herbal medicines at the Clinical Pharmacy Congress

C+D will hold its next Big Debate – asking whether community pharmacy teams should recommend herbal medicines to patients – live at the Clinical Pharmacy Congress in London on Saturday (May 14).

Whether or not pharmacists should suggest their patients take herbal products for certain ailments can be a divisive topic.

This will be the theme of C+D’s eighth Big Debate, the first to be held live and in person, chaired by C+D clinical and custom content editor Nana Ofori-Atta.

A bit more about our panellists

Hala Jawad is a Boots pharmacist and regional representative for airports and stations. She is also London divisional representative for the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) and PDA committee member for community pharmacy in the south east. She also sits on the advisory board of the International Forum for Wellbeing in Pregnancy.

Sid Dajani is the owner and superintendent pharmacist at Wainwrights Chemist in Bishopstoke, Hampshire, and is the primary care network lead for Winchester Rural South. He was formerly the treasurer of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society between 2011 and 2016 and UK representative for the Pharmaceutical Group of the European Union between 2011 and 2018.

The discussion will kick off at 1.15pm in the Technology Theatre at the ExCeL exhibition centre, posing the question: should community pharmacy teams recommend herbal medicines to patients?

Mr Ofori-Atta will be joined by two expert panellists – Hala Jawad and Sid Dajani – who will present their opinions on the issue

Audience members will also be invited to contribute to the discussion and ask questions during the half-hour session, which will end with a vote.

Join us this Saturday for our live, interactive debate to see if your mind can be swayed one way or the other.

Unable to make it to the live session? The debate will be recorded and added to C+D Community Big Debate page, where users can share their own opinions at a time that suits them.

Register for free on the C+D Community to be ready to share your views as soon as the recording is uploaded.
