Well snaps up three pharmacies across England

The multiple has acquired a pharmacy in West Yorkshire and two in Oxfordshire, in a move it said shows “its commitment to and confidence in the future of community pharmacy”.

Well snagged Pharmacy Express in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, as well as two branches formerly owned by Frosts Pharmacy: one in Banbury, North Oxfordshire, and the other in Marston, near Oxford.

All three will be rebranded in due course, a Well spokesperson told C+D yesterday (November 8).

Well now owns 746 pharmacies across the UK, the spokesperson confirmed today.

Well operations director Louis Purchase said the multiple was “pleased to be welcoming three new pharmacies to the Well family” and “excited to continue to expand the communities [it serves]”.

Integration a priority

The multiple will prioritise onboarding the teams in its three new branches, and supporting them through the transition period, it said.

Mr Purchase said he hoped Well’s new colleagues “can keep progressing and develop their clinical skills even further” as they begin working for the multiple.

Well noted that the Frosts Pharmacy in Marston ran “a successful travel vaccination clinic”, adding that it hoped to continue this.

In 2020, Frosts Pharmacy – which also owns Oxford Online Pharmacy – was forced to close its Northway branch after the COVID-19 pandemic led to a drop in income from services for the group.
