MedPal AI dispensed a “record” 41,600 prescription items through its 24/7 automated distribution centre last month, it has announced.
The AI-powered digital health company said its dispensing activity for March marks the “highest monthly volume since operations commenced” last October, and represents a growth of 27.5%.
The total number of items dispensed by MedPal AI since its launch now stands at approximately 200,000, it added.

It said its pharmacy operations “now exceed £5m” in annualised revenue, based on dispensing volumes for March.
And it added that gross margins exceeded 34% last month, “reflecting the operational leverage” of its “automated dispensing infrastructure as volumes scale”.

MedPal AI said the “continued acceleration in dispensing volume demonstrates the increase in patient demand” for both NHS distance selling pharmacy (DSP) services and private prescriptions through its online pharmacy MedPal Clinic.
The company announced in November that it had taken over ownership of an NHS DSP contract after the previous owner went into administration.
It said at the time that the acquisition was “particularly significant” now that the General Pharmaceutical Council is no longer issuing new DSP licences to pharmacies.
“Leading disruption”
MedPal AI chief executive Jason Drummond described the company dispensing its “highest ever monthly total” as “a landmark moment”.
“In just five months, we have scaled from zero to an annualised pharmacy revenue run rate exceeding £5m, and we have done this while delivering a gross margin of over 34% in March,” he said.
“This extraordinary rate of growth demonstrates the power of our vertically integrated, AI-driven model.”

Drummond added that the company’s “technology-led cost structure means that as dispensing volumes grow, fixed costs are spread over a larger revenue base, driving further margin improvement”.
“The traditional pharmacy model is being disrupted, and MedPal is leading that disruption,” he said.

It comes after MedPal AI revealed in February that it had expanded its robotic distribution hub to “operate 24/7” and handle “over 100,000” prescriptions per month.
And it follows the company announcing the launch of “direct AI integration” between its consumer health app MedPal and its online pharmacy MedPal Clinic, in a move it described as “a UK-first”.
