WeightWatchers this week (October 20) revealed that it has teamed up with Amazon Pharmacy to deliver weight loss medications in the US.
The collaboration will give WeightWatchers Clinic members “access to real-time medication availability, automatic coupon savings and fast reliable home delivery” for weight management drugs including glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), the company said.

Members will also be able to “check in-stock availability, compare delivery times” and choose Amazon’s online pharmacy to fill their weight loss drug prescriptions, it added.
And it said that Amazon Pharmacy “automatically applies...savings at checkout” and offers “free two-day shipping for Prime members and same-day delivery in eligible locations”.
“Pharmacy logistics”
According to its website, the WeightWatchers Clinic prescribes GLP-1s including semaglutide, liraglutide and tirzepatide – brand names Wegovy, Saxenda and Zepbound – as well as other medications such as Metformin and combination Naltrexone and Bupropion.
The partnership comes as “demand for GLP-1s and other weight management medications continues to surge nationwide”, it said.

WeightWatchers chief operations officer Jon Volkmann said that the collaboration with Amazon Pharmacy makes it “simpler and faster” for members to “access the weight management medications they need”.
“By delivering speed, reliability and convenience we’re helping members stay focused on their health goals, not on pharmacy logistics,” he added.

It comes after the company announced in May that it had partnered with weight loss service CheqUp to offer its “GLP-1 Companion Programme” to CheqUp members using weight management medications in the UK.
Meanwhile, NHS England (NHSE) announced in the same month that the NHS App’s “Amazon-style” prescription tracking feature is set to be rolled out to “nearly 5,000 more pharmacies” over the next year.
It said in August that “around 1,650” high street pharmacies were so far offering the NHS app prescription tracking feature, including “every Boots in England”.
