Wellcare Pharmacy Group has bought 15 community pharmacies across the South East and South West of England out of administration.

Property brokers Christie & Co, which led the sale, said on Friday that the pharmacies were previously operated by Allcures, and were purchased in a pre-packaged administration sale after parts of the company’s portfolio entered administration on October 29.

RSM UK Restructuring Advisory were appointed joint administrators, it added.

“Strategic mix” of locations

Christie & Co said Allcures continues to operate 18 pharmacies that “remain unaffected by the administration process”.

Wellcare’s purchase brings the total number of branches operated by the independent pharmacy group up to 58, with locations across London, Essex, East Sussex and Somerset.

Christie & Co said the 15 ex-Allcures pharmacies “occupy a strategic mix of high street, residential and integrated health centre locations”.

According to RSM UK partner Glen Carter, the sale “safeguards the jobs of nearly 100 employees and, importantly, ensures the continuity of NHS prescription and other essential pharmacy services for the local communities they serve”.

And Wellcare Pharmacy Group’s managing director Anup Patel said the acquisition “marks an exciting step forward” for the company, “creating new opportunities for growth, collaboration and our continued commitment to delivering excellent patient care”.

It comes after Christie & Co’s annual report revealed a 4.1% increase in the average price of pharmacies sold in 2025.

In the report, head of pharmacy Jonathan Board also revealed that 30% of the broker’s completed deals are “going to new entrants to the market”.
