Nestled in a tranquil Georgian-planned village in Angus, Scotland, Edzell Pharmacy is the 58th in the country to be purchased by Davidsons Chemists.

Operating standard hours, the pharmacy was originally purchased by seller John Fowlie in 2014, who after 12 years decided to put it back on the market and focus his attention on his three more northern branches.

The pharmacy is the only one within a six-mile radius and dispenses an average of 4,961 NHS items a month, while also monitoring the dosage systems for approximately 50 patients living in a local 55-bed care home.

Davidsons Chemists managing director Allan Gordon said that Edzell Pharmacy “fits in well with our brand and core geography”.

Located on a bustling thoroughfare in central Bradford, Kirkgate Pharmacy has been purchased by local first-time buyer, Kirkgate Pharma Ltd.

The pharmacy, which relocated to the city’s commercial district 12 months ago, dispenses approximately 7,250 items per month and has its own travel clinic.

Ibrar Khan bought the pharmacy in 2020 and is now selling to focus on his other pharmacy businesses in Leeds and Wakefield.

A representative for Kirkgate Pharma said they were “delighted” to have purchased the premises “in the heart of Bradford, the city where I was born, grew up and am proud to call home”.

Khan is also from Bradford and said it is “great that the business has passed down to a young, Bradfordian pharmacist who knows the town and its people”.

Situated in residential Rochdale and sharing a property with two GP practices, Croft Shifa Pharmacy in Greater Manchester has been sold by group operator Kirandeep Cheema of Allcures plc to first-time buyer Hossiendad Hossieni of NHSR Limited.

The pharmacy is a standard-hours health centre pharmacy dispensing an average of 6,400 items each month and is located 1.5 miles north-east of Rochdale’s centre.

Christie & Co pharmacy senior business agent Tom Young described Greater Manchester as a “hotbed of activity for pharmacy transactions”, and called Croft Shifa Pharmacy “a fantastic opportunity for a first-time buyer and operator to come into a pharmacy which has been run under full management for some time”.

Addressing the difficulties first-time buyers can have securing funding, Christie’s director of finance Alena Ray said the brokerage “successfully arranged 85% loan-to-value funding” and highlighted Hossiendad’s “expertise, dedication and commitment to patient care” as making him “exceptionally well-placed to lead the business”.

Purchased by local first-time buyer Nisha Kaur, the pharmacy dispenses approximately 5,000 items each month and is located on busy main road Russell Drive.

Christie & Co pharmacy director Carl Steel said the sale “attracted multiple offers and was agreed within six weeks of marketing commencing, showing yet again the strength of the Midlands pharmacy market”.
