Boots has partnered with health and life insurance company Vitality to offer some of its members “up to 25%” off the Boots Online Doctor’s weight loss service.
Announced today, the “discounted access” to weight loss medicines and other services will be available to “qualifying” Vitality members “from this spring”, Boots said.
The Boots Online Doctor weight loss service “combines weight loss treatment with expert clinical care and access to a wide range of wrap-around support”, it explained.
This includes “a programme promoting sustainable lifestyle and behavioural changes”, access to an app to “track progress” and a “free 12-month aftercare programme for customers who have stopped medication”, it added.

The health and beauty giant said the percentage of the discount will be tiered “depending on a person’s Vitality status”.
This is a “behavioural science-backed system whereby members increase their status and the rewards they can access, as they take steps to live healthier lives”, it said.
And those who are “more physically active and healthier” will be able to access a “high discount”, it added.
“Easy choice”
Vitality chief executive Neville Koopowitz said that through this partnership it “will give members the tools and support to manage their weight, reduce associated health risk and improve their health”.
“The combination of expertise and experience within this partnership across Boots and Vitality is unique,” he continued, adding that together the companies “will support better long-term health outcomes, setting a new industry benchmark for integrated, preventative health in the UK”.
And Boots chief healthcare officer Jamie Kerruish said that “given the growing demand for weight loss medicines to treat obesity and their huge potential for transforming the nation’s health, kicking off this partnership with our Boots Online Doctor weight loss service was an easy choice”.

“We are incredibly proud of our weight loss service proposition,” he said.
“Not only do we provide access to medicines to those who need them, we also offer a total support package that will help patients to make the lifestyle and behavioural changes to manage their weight sustainably,” he added.
Kerruish also noted that he looks forward to “expanding this partnership later this year to provide access to even more healthcare services available at Boots”.

It comes after Boots last month announced the launch of a pilot “private weight loss treatment service” to offer customers “in-person advice and treatment” on the high street.
Available in 17 stores across the UK, the service will “include an appointment in a private consultation room” with a pharmacist independent prescriber who has had “specialist training” to prescribe weight loss medicines, it said at the time.
