Last week, the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) announced in its annual report for 2025/26 that it had received one corporate complaint that was upheld and four that were partially upheld.

Now, C+D can exclusively reveal the reasons behind the complaints against the regulator.

The GPhC this week told C+D that the upheld complaint, relating to processes and procedures, specifically concerned the regulator’s “communication and provision of information to complainant”.

It said two of the partially upheld complaints, also relating to processes and procedures, regarded the “time taken to progress [an] investigation”.

And the remaining two partially upheld complaints related to the outcome of a regulatory decision - concerning the “supplementary review of additional information” and the “additional review of one part of concern”, the regulator added.

The GPhC said in its report that it had received 21 corporate complaints overall – including two more regarding its processes and 14 more about its decision outcomes that were dismissed - meaning almost a quarter were either fully or partially upheld.

The regulator added that it looks “to learn from all complaints whether they are upheld or not”.

It comes after the GPhC’s latest annual report showed that it received almost 10,000 concerns about pharmacy professionals in 2025/26.

And it follows the regulator revealing that it took action on almost three-quarters of the whistleblowing disclosures it received this year.
