‘Great to be back’: Will Quince keeps health minister job

Will Quince will remain minister of state at the Department of Health and Social Care (DH) under new Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, he has announced.

The Conservative MP first took on the role in September under Liz Truss's short-lived leadership.

He confirmed this morning (October 27) via Twitter that he was “delighted” Mr Sunak had re-appointed him as health minister.

“It’s great to be back and continue this important work at the DH,” he added.

It is as yet unclear whether Mr Quince will continue to serve as primary care minister, with responsibility for community pharmacy. C+D understands that his portfolio will be announced soon, as Mr Sunak is still appointing junior ministers.

Mr Quince’s re-appointment follows yet another government reshuffle, with Steve Barclay snagging a second chance as health secretary after a brief two months in the post over the summer.

Mr Quince popped into a Boots branch in Westminster this week (October 25) for a flu jab and blood pressure check, in a visit organised by the Company Chemists’ Association.
