Community pharmacist named new Cegedim Rx UK managing director
Former superintendent pharmacist and National Pharmacy Association (NPA) director Phil Galt has been appointed the new UK managing director of Cegedim Rx.
Community pharmacist Phil Galt has replaced Adam Dennett as UK managing director for pharmacy software supplier Cegedim Rx, the company announced this month (April 5).
A “qualified pharmacist”, until recently Galt was “managing director and superintendent pharmacist for independent 32-strong chain Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacy”, the company said.
It added that he has also held positions as a non-executive director on the board of the NPA Insurance Company (NPAI) and as a director of the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIMp).
Cegedim Rx also said that Galt has been “a trustee for the NPA Health Education Foundation” – a charity that seeks to improve public understanding of disease “by encouraging greater research within community pharmacy”.
Galt has taken over from Dennett who, after a decade with the company, “is stepping down to pursue a new career outside of healthcare”, it added.

“I know the pressures of delivering frontline care in community pharmacy and just how challenging it can be to juggle this alongside managing a sustainable and profitable business,” Galt said.
“I’m therefore truly looking forward to bringing Cegedim Rx my 20 years of customer experience and industry expertise…to accelerate the company’s product innovation,” he added.
Commenting on the appointment, head of European operations for Cegedim Group Tristan de Foucher said the company is “delighted to have someone of his calibre and industry experience join the company”.
Deeming Galt “an industry visionary with a proven track record of execution”, he added that “it is an exciting moment in the life of Cegedim Rx”.
De Foucher said that Dennett “has been a force of nature in [the] business for the past 10 years”.
“Under his leadership, the team has continuously and successfully invested in and driven product innovation to stay ahead of the ever-changing demands placed upon community pharmacy,” he added.
This month, C+D revealed that Cegedim had become the first IT provider to allow pharmacists to update GP records with Pharmacy First consultation data.
