Tesco pharmacies across the UK see “500,000 customers” per week, the retailer’s 2026 sustainability report has revealed.

The supermarket giant called itself the “UK’s third largest pharmacy provider” with 365 in-store pharmacies.

The report also highlighted services run by Tesco pharmacies including its free Pampers preemie protection nappies to new parents in over 350 pharmacies scheme.

It also highlighted Tesco’s ‘Helping you to live Healthier’ campaign, which ran in partnership with Cancer Research UK, the British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.

This campaign helped customers “make healthier food choices, live healthier lives and gain access to pharmacy services”.

As part of this movement, the retailer ran “dedicated condition-led awareness and prevention campaigns in partnership with health charity partners”.

These included blood pressure checks, assessments for type 2 diabetes and pharmacists who offered “advice on cancer early detection”.

Tesco is also a global co-chair of the Healthier Lives Coalition, which promotes healthy living initiatives with retailers and manufacturers, and aims to help make “healthier choices easier and more accessible”.

Other retailers from the Healthier Lives Coalition were invited by the supermarket chain to visit its Cheshunt Tesco Extra shop to show its “health and pharmacy initiatives in action”.

Accessible healthcare “essential”

In November 2024, Tesco announced the pilot “dedicated health zone” in the Cheshunt store, to enhance “pharmacy and healthcare services” in-store and “make it easier for customers to manage all aspects of their wellbeing in one place”.

Tesco said in the sustainability report, “we know access to local healthcare services and trusted advice is essential to improving health outcomes.”

The retailer also detailed other services offered in its stores including flu jabs, its Weight Loss Management service and “free” advice on cancer, heart disease and diabetes as part of its ‘Lets Talk’ programme.
