Well is looking at offering private services at its airport pharmacies, C+D can reveal.
It comes as the multiple opened three new pharmacies within WHSmith stores across Heathrow Airport terminals over the last month.
The airport pharmacies don’t operate under an NHS contract or sell prescription-only medicines (POMs), but the multiple’s chief retail officer Andrew Caplan told C+D it was “exploring opportunities to provide private clinical services demanded by travellers and airport workers”.

Well opened its new Heathrow terminal four location on March 19, followed by the Heathrow terminal three location on March 26, and finally its Heathrow terminal five location on April 9.
It previously opened a pharmacy within a WHSmith at Heathrow Airport terminal two in 2020, following the opening of an airport branch in a WHSmith at Gatwick Airport north terminal in 2019.

They sell OTC meds and pharmacy-only medicines (P-meds) along with an extensive health and beauty range.
Well launched another airport branch at Birmingham Airport in 2024, and at London Euston train station in 2021.

Caplan added that expanding Well’s presence across Heathrow “allows us to support more patients with convenient, accessible healthcare as part of their journey”.

“Airports are a key touchpoint for people thinking about their health, whether that’s preparing for travel, managing a condition while away, or accessing advice at short notice,” he said.
