Digital health platform Hims & Hers has launched a “comprehensive” weight loss programme in the UK, it last week (December 10) announced.
The US-based company, which says it has “almost 2.5 million” subscribers, said its “personalised” weight management treatment plans “may include branded glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) options such as Mounjaro or Wegovy”, as well as “the oral non-prescription treatment option Orlos”.
The programmes will be available to “eligible customers” following a “thorough and clinically robust intake assessment conducted by GMC-registered doctors”, it added.

“Licensed clinicians assess each individual’s medical history, suitability and contraindications to guide appropriate treatment decisions,” it said - and “all customers” have access to a “24/7 care team” and “content to help improve nutrition, movement and sleep-based habits along their weight loss journey”.
Hims & Hers told C+D its prescription weight management plans start at £149 per month for 12 months, while the non-prescription plans start at £79 per month for three months.
“Customers may terminate or pause their subscription at any time,” it added.
“Complementing” the NHS
The company said “access to GLP-1 treatment plans remains challenging on the NHS and via the private sector due to surging demand and escalating costs”, and its new programmes are “removing barriers to care”.
Hims & Hers general manager international David Meinertz said the “doctor-designed treatment plans will complement the NHS” by giving “accessible, evidence-based and sustainable long-term weight management care to those who need it, discreetly and conveniently”.

“Our proven model is grounded in clinical excellence, oversight and convenience, ensuring that every customer receives the thoughtful, thorough and high-quality care they deserve,” he added.
And the company “plans to continue to expand into more offerings as demand for access to personalised care continues to grow”, he said.

It comes after WeightWatchers revealed in October it had teamed up with Amazon Pharmacy to deliver weight loss medications in the US.
The collaboration will give WeightWatchers Clinic members “access to real-time medication availability, automatic coupon savings and fast reliable home delivery” for weight management drugs including GLP-1 receptor agonists”, the company said.
Meanwhile, Boots Online Doctor has launched a “free 12-month support programme” to help patients coming off weight loss treatments “maintain” their results.
