Lloydspharmacy employee Aoife McCoy explains how relocating across the UK got her career on track

As funding cuts hit pharmacies across Northern Ireland, some multiples are offering relocation packages to pharmacists struggling to find jobs. Recent graduate Aoife McCoy explains how moving to Manchester helped her get a foot on the career ladder.

"After working for some time as a locum, with only three days of work each week, I became very disheartened with the situation in Northern Ireland. It appeared almost impossible to find a job.

I was delighted to hear about the opportunities in the UK with Lloydspharmacy, with the added benefit of guidance and help in relocating being a huge draw. I was very eager to meet with the Lloydspharmacy team. Aside from the benefits of a relocation package, my main attraction to Lloydspharmacy was its real focus on healthcare and wellbeing.

I began as relief staff but have now moved on to become second pharmacist in the one of the busiest stores in Greater Manchester. I am so pleased that I made the decision to move, as I feel completely settled and content in my career. I look forward to remaining with Lloydspharmacy, hopefully progressing to managerial level and eventually becoming a pre-registration tutor myself."
