Man with silver revolver attempts to raid pharmacy

The would-be armed robber, described as having "distinctive eyebrows", fled empty-handed when he realised staff could not open the safe

Police have released CCTV images of a “bushy eye-browed” man who tried to hold up a Birmingham pharmacy with what appeared to be a silver revolver last month.

The suspect entered Hall Green Pharmacy on Stratford Road, Birmingham just after 8am on December 17, before pulling the gun from a blue satchel bag, West Midlands Police said last week (January 1).

He demanded cash, but fled empty-handed after staff told him they could not access the shop’s safe, police said.

Investigating officer DC Ben Allen said it is not clear whether the gun was genuine or a replica.

A pharmacy technician present at the time, who wishes not to be named, told C+D that staff were "very scared" during the incident.

"It was just a normal day, [and] some random person walks into the dispensary with a scarf covering most of his face, pulls out a revolver, and demands money," the technician said yesterday (January 4).

"We were very shaken up. I've never seen a gun in my life," they added.

Police said the suspect was described as a light-skinned Asian man in his late teens or 20s with “distinctive bushy eyebrows that slope sharply downwards at the side”. The man is just under 6ft tall and is described as being “softly spoken”, they said.

Anyone with information should contact Birmingham East Police's acquisitive crime team at Stechford police station by dialling 101, police added.
