Numark names Amy Stanforth pre-reg of the year
Numark awarded its pre-registration student of the year award to Amy Stanforth from C A Brack Pharmacy in Stamford Bridge, Yorkshire at a gala dinner at the Belfry. Miss Stanforth scooped £500 in prize money at the event, which was sponsored by Reckitt Benckiser.Students were asked to run health promotion events, based on topics they covered throughout the series of workshops. Miss Stanforth's health project was called “Stamford Bridge Stomp”, part of the UK Walking Health Initiative and involves leading a half-hour health walk at lunchtime each Tuesday.Numark training associate Karina Adams said: “It has been great to see the quality of the health promotion events that all the students completed. Amy had a simple idea, but it brought the community together driving footfall into the pharmacy and bringing the message of healthy living to the community. Amy drove this project from the beginning, designing the flyers, becoming a “walk leader”, setting up a web page, getting publicity in local publications and risk assessing the walks.” Miss Stanforth said: “The Numark programme has created invaluable networking opportunities for me. Winning the Numark Pre-registration Pharmacist of the Year Award is an honour that I believe I owe in part to the hard work and encouragement from my tutor and my colleagues. I will be using some of the prize money to take them out for a meal and the rest will be used to set up my ‘future pharmacy’ fund – one day perhaps I will be collecting a prize on behalf of my company, not just myself.”A further two students were highly commended; Samantha Thompson from D H and G Treharne Ltd in Boroughbridge , York and Moses Nutekpor from Chrischem Ltd, Mile End Road London.
