Three quarters of locums fear for their future
People As work becomes much more scarce, C+D's exclusive Salary Survey has revealed that three-quarters of locums are worried about their future in pharmacy, with more than half wanting to quit the profession.
Locums are finding it much more difficult to find work compared to a year ago, with more than three quarters fearing for their future in pharmacy, the C+D Salary Survey 2012 has revealed.
Nearly three out of four locums said they found it harder to find work this year compared to last year, while less than half voiced the same concerns in 2011.
And nearly 80 per cent of 380 locums who responded said they were either a little more or a lot more worried than last year about finding work over the next 12 months, compared with 62 per cent in 2011.
More than half of locums were disillusioned with pharmacy and wanted to move out of the profession, according to the C+D Salary Survey 2012 |

But job security was less of a worry for pharmacy employees at independent pharmacies compared with those at the largest multiples.
Just over 37 per cent of nearly 250 employees at companies with one to five pharmacies rated their jobs as a little or a lot less secure than last year, compared with 54 per cent of more than 350 employees of Boots and Lloydspharmacy.
This compared with only 25 per cent of 44 branch managers and non-manager pharmacists at the Co-operative Pharmacy who rated their jobs as less secure than last year.
Fifty-three per cent of more than 150 employee pharmacists at Boots and 49 per cent of 128 employee pharmacists at Lloydspharmacy rated their jobs as less secure than last year.
