Staff were left 'extremely shaken' after a man wearing a balaclava and brandishing a stick robbed a West Lothian pharmacy in broad daylight.

The robber threatened staff and stole cash from the till at Ladywell Pharmacy in Livingston, Scotland on Saturday afternoon (September 7), according to Scotland police.

He stole boxes of morphine, temazepam and diazepam from the shelves before running out of the store.

	Police Scotland detective sergeant Grant Paterson said staff were "extremely shaken" by the ordeal.

Police Scotland urged anyone who was offered the drugs to contact police and NHS Lothian issued a warning about the dangers of taking the controlled drugs "in any manner other than as directed by a medical professional".

A couple who held up a pharmacy in Edinburgh at knifepoint in May were jailed this week. The pharmacy owner Peter Tinkler described the ordeal as "Quentin Tarantino at its best", in an exclusive interview with C+D on Monday (September 9).
