Actavis has recalled batches of its vancomycin powder over fears they could contain fibre and glass particles.
Actavis's third party manufacturer had identified "the potential" for small particles of fibre material and glass to be present in vials of its 500mg and 1,000mg batches of the powder, the MHRA announced yesterday (June 12).
Pharmacists should quarantine affected batches of the antibiotic, which is used to treat intestinal infections, and return them to the original supplier for credit, the MHRA said.
