Staff at Wilstead Pharmacy in Bedfordshire were threatened by a man carrying a plastic bag they believed to contain a gun
Police are appealing for witnesses after staff at a pharmacy in Bedford were threatened with what appeared to be a handgun. A robber entered Wilstead Pharmacy at around 5.15pm last Wednesday (October 29) carrying a plastic bag that staff believed to contain a gun, Bedfordshire Police said. The individual pointed the weapon at staff and demanded cash from the till, while his accomplice "acted as a look-out" and stood beside the automatic doors to prevent them from closing, police said on Tuesday (November 4). After the money had been handed over the robbers fled the scene. Police believed they escaped by getting into a waiting car, possibly a black Vauxhall Astra. The first robber was a mixed race or Asian man, over 6ft tall and in his mid-20s, police said. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black quilted jacket with the hood pulled up and a scarf around his face, as well as blue jeans, white trainers and sunglasses. His accomplice was mixed race and slightly shorter, police said. He was also in his mid-20s and wore dark clothing, they added. Detective constable Darren Armitage, who is leading the investigation, was "keen" to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery and who may have witnessed it, police said. Anyone with any information relating to the incident should contact DC Armitage in confidence on 01234 275179 or text their information to 07786 200011, Bedfordshire Police said. Witnesses could also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
