Police issue drug warning after Derbyshire pharmacy burgled
Burglars stole diazepam and other controlled drugs from a Lloydspharmacy in Chesterfield, say Derbyshire Police
Police have warned the public against taking drugs without a prescription after a "substantial amount" of medication was stolen from a Chesterfield pharmacy.
Prescription drugs including amoxicillin, diclofenac, diazepam and clonazepam were taken from a Lloydspharmacy on Wardgate Way at 3.30am on Friday January 23, Derbyshire Police said.
Amitriptyline, dihydrocodeine, nitrazepam and nizatidine were also taken by the burglars, who smashed through the glass in the pharmacy's door to gain entry to the premises, police told C+D on Wednesday (January 28).
Lloydspharmacy told C+D that no one had been hurt during the incident and the store had reopened at midday. The pharmacy was grateful to customers for their support, it added.
Derbyshire Police said that anyone who took the stolen drugs without a prescription could "put themselves in danger", and epilepsy medication clonazepam could be "particularly dangerous if used incorrectly".
It urged anyone who knew the location of the stolen drugs or who had any information relating to the burglary to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference 3107/15.
